It’s that time of year again: We want to hear your nominations for the 2013 Ballpark Digest Awards, to be announced in September.
Each year we honor accomplishments in the baseball-business world, with honorees coming from the MLB, MiLB, independent, summer-collegiate and college ranks.
Here are the categories:
Promotion of the Year. Promotions are the heart and soul of professional baseball. What team showed the most imagination in bringing a new promotion to fans? We like to see flair and imagination, as well as effectiveness, when it comes to noteworthy promotions.
Best New Logo/Branding. What teams overhauled their looks to a positive effect? What team successfully enhanced their image with a new branding?
Best New Food Item. What new ballpark food item made your mouth water?
Best Marketing. This could be a radio spot, a TV spot, an Internet spot or a scoreboard spot.
Organization of the Year. What front office boosted the fortunes of their team to best effect? We’re looking to honor the entire front-office team here.
Executive of the Year. Who is a leading light in the front office, making an impact on the game?
Broadcaster of the Year. Who notably calls a game?
Editor’s Choice. We use this as a wild-card category; past winners have included MiLB for charity efforts and the Cape Cod League for sending a league baseball to space.
Best Ballpark Renovation (under $1 million). A smart operator makes ballpark improvements every year, and most of these efforts cost under a million dollars.
Best Ballpark Renovation (over $1 million). What large-scale renovation best impacted operations and gave a fresh start to fans and a franchise?
Best New Ballpark. No reason to define this category.
You don’t need to send us nominations for new ballpark and renovated ballparks: we have those nominees and finalists in the can. (We also have a surprise or two in these awards as well.) We want to hear both from teams and fans. Send your thoughts to editors@augustpublications.com. The deadline for submissions: Sept. 15, 2013.
