RailRiders welcome 11-million fan in team history

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRidersA big achievement here: the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Class AAA; International League) welcomed the 11-millionth fan in team history to PNC Field last night.

“Baseball has a long and storied history here in Northeastern Pennsylvania.” said Rob Crain, president and general manager. “From the Red Barons to the RailRiders and even a year where the road was home, 11 million people since 1989 is a remarkable accomplishment and shows the great support of Minor League Baseball here in NEPA.”

In celebration of this attendance milestone, the RailRiders are planning a party themed around the number eleven.  The party will be kicked off when the 1,111 fan walks through the gates on Saturday, Aug. 10. That lucky fan will receive a jersey with the number 11,000,000 on the back, 11 tickets to all remaining RailRiders games, throw out the ceremonial first pitch, 11 hotdogs, 11 Pepsi’s,$111 in store credit at the SWB Station Team Store, 11 autographed baseballs and  a crown. The party will continue throughout the week as the RailRiders front office staff will complete 11 hours of community service.
