It seems like only yesterday we were there for the opening: the Winston-Salem Dash (High Class A; Carolina League) are set to welcome the millionth fan to BB&T Ballpark sometime in May.
Unless something goes terribly wrong, the Dash will be fastest High Class A team to attract a million fans. On the historic night at BB&T Ballpark, a fan in attendance will be chosen to participate in a game of chance on the field. The fan will win one of three prizes: one million dollars, a two-year lease on a $30,000 vehicle from Flow Companies, LLC, or two Dash tickets for life.
Based on projections, the Dash expect to hit one million fans sometime during the month of May. The Dash are scheduled to play 17 games at BB&T Ballpark during the month of May, beginning with a six-game homestand from May 3-8.
“Our community’s support over the last three-plus seasons has been incredible,” Dash team President Geoff Lassiter said. “Dash fans are the best in Minor League Baseball, and this accomplishment proves that. We can’t wait to celebrate our millionth fan at some point in the coming weeks.”
Since BB&T Ballpark’s opening in April of 2010, the Dash pace all 30 Advanced Class-A teams in attendance. Winston-Salem has drawn more than 300,000 fans in each of the facility’s first three full seasons. These fans have created a home field advantage for the Dash, who boast Minor League Baseball’s best home record since 2010. Winston-Salem owns an all-time record of 140-82 (.631) inside BB&T Ballpark.
