TinCaps: It’s all about the cash, baby

Fort Wayne TinCapsThere’s no arguing with the logic here: the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Low Class A; Midwest League) are giving away $5,000 on Opening Night because, well, people like cash.

“We wanted to mark the start of year number five with something significant,” said TinCaps President Mike Nutter. “We kept thinking of clever things to give away or do and then we decided that what people like best is cash, so that’s what we decided to give away. The best part about this give away is that there will be waves of prizes before we get to the cash, so a lot of people will walk away happy.”

All fans in attendance will be eligible to win this guaranteed cash prize. Also up for grabs: a TinCaps game-worn red jersey.

Of course, it’s not quite that simple. In the five weeks leading up to Parkview Field’s 2013 Opening Day on April 11th, baseball fans around
Fort Wayne will need to be on the lookout for TinCaps mascot, Johnny, for a chance to be pre-qualified to win the $5,000 Opening Night prize. The TinCaps have partnered with business locations around Fort Wayne for a scavenger hunt that will provide the opportunity to win a number of TinCaps-themed prizes, including tickets to the first game of the season at Parkview Field.

Each week for five weeks, one winner will be randomly selected from among all submissions. These five winners will automatically advance to the jersey-winning stage of the $5,000 giveaway contest on the TinCaps Opening Night. Each weekly winner is guaranteed two tickets to Opening Day and a gameworn red TinCaps jersey.

“We have a cycle for replacing jerseys each year, and 2013 was the time for the red jerseys to be replaced,” said Michael Limmer, TinCaps Vice President of Marketing. “These are worn on Sundays and special occasions, so these jerseys have seen a lot of history in just the first 4 seasons. Fans will be receiving a real keepsake item.”
