A decision on the design-build team for a new downtown St. Paul Saints (independent; American Association) ballpark should be made by St. Paul officials by the end of the week.
Three groups ended up bidding on the project: Ryan Cos./AECOM/Julie Snow Architects; Knutson Construction Services/Populous/HDR; and PCL Construction/DLR Group. All three have ties to the project and the state: the Ryan group worked on early renderings and site studies; Knutson and Julie Snow Architects are locals; Populous designed Target Field and Xcel Energy Center; and the DLR Group designed the renovated Siebert Field at the University of Minnesota, set to open this spring.
The ballpark is expected to open for the 2915 season.
