Tom Saffell, a former MLB outfielder who spent 30 years as the president of the rookie Gulf Coast League, has passed away. He was 91.
Saffell, who played four seasons in the majors for the Pirates and Athletics and some 17 seasons in the minors, was best known in MiLB as president of the rookie circuit between 1979 and 2009. He was named King of Baseball in 1999.
