The Reno Aces (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) will take the field as the Reno Ghost Riders as the franchise promotes a past finalist for the team name.
It’s an interesting trend in Minor League Baseball: teams revisiting their branding exercises and summoning a contender for a promotion. Earlier this season the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Class AA; Texas League) held a successful promotion taking the field as the Northwest Arkansas Thunder Chickens.
For the Aces, it means playing as the Reno Ghost Riders, one of the original names suggested as the team made plans to move to Reno, for the upcoming July 12-15 weekend series. The Ghost Riders name will appear on the team’s official website, in advertisements and throughout the ballpark during the series.
Limited edition merchandise with the Ghost Riders logo, including shirts, fitted caps, and a limited number of special edition lapel pins, will be available for purchase in the Aces Team Store. A majority of the items will feature a glow-in-the-dark logo.
During the homestand, the Aces will wear special Ghost Riders jerseys and caps. The game-worn jerseys will be auctioned on Sunday, with proceeds benefiting to the Reno Aces Foundation. The game-worn caps will be auctioned off online following the series.
Saturday night’s game will feature a special What Could Have Been Weekend Bobblehead giveaway.
