It’s been a little quiet on the ballpark front in Richmond, but the front office of the Richmond Flying Squirrels (Class AA; Eastern League) continues to press for a new facility.
This interview with Todd “Parney” Parnell doesn’t cover much new ground; the Flying Squirrels are still working with the city on a new ballpark plan. We’re starting to wonder, however, if the team’s success (first in attendance in the Eastern League) isn’t starting to work against them: with so many happy fans at The Diamond, there’s little urgency to proceed with a ballpark plan. That’s probably the biggest challenge the team faces on the PR front.
