Videos are increasingly important marketing tools for baseball teams at all levels. Here’s a look at how three teams — Fort Wayne TinCaps, Madison Mallards and Joliet Slammers — are deploying videos as part of their sales arsenal.
The Madison Mallards (summer collegiate; Northwoods League) threw up a pretty slick website, 7gamepack.com, to promote the team’s 7-game package plan. We can’t embed any of the videos here, but trust us — they’re pretty entertaining, as Maynard G. Mallard illustrates five good reasons to purchase a package.
In Joliet, Director of Marketing and Public Relations Sarah Eichenberger put together a nice little video extolling the virtues of the Joliet Slammers (independent; Frontier League). It’s not a big-budget production, but it does get the Slammers message out pretty effectively:
Finally, we have news about videos yet to be produced, as the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Low Class A; Midwest League) are turning to fans to participate in the team’s
2012 television commercials, built around the team’s “It’s All About You” promotional campaign.
“It only makes sense to involve and highlight our fans,” said TinCaps Vice President of Marketing Michael Limmer. “We truly wanted to make it ‘all about you’ this season and what better way than having them be the star of the team’s commercials. We’re looking for TinCaps families and groups of friends to show how excited they are about their hometown baseball team.”
