Dave Ziedelis, the general manager of the Frederick Keys, has been named Calvin Falwell Executive of the Year for 2011, awarded to the Carolina League’s top executive.
“It is a great honor to be given this award,” Ziedelis said. “The league is full of outstanding people and I am very grateful. We have had a wonderful season in Frederick with increased attendance and the Carolina League title back to town so it has been a memorable season.”
In 2011 the Keys recorded their highest attendance since 2002, drawing 296,296 fans to Harry Grove Stadium. Recently the Keys had a ten-year lease approved by the City Board of Alderman to keep the Keys in Frederick through the 2021 season. On the field the team won its third championship in its last seven seasons.
“Dave is a great choice for this honor,” Carolina League President John Hopkins stated. “Throughout the years, Dave has gone the extra mile to get things done and has led a fantastic staff in Frederick. We are proud to have him as our Executive of the Year in 2011.”
Keys President Ken Young added, “Dave richly deserves this award, and I am happy to see that others in league have recognized the excellent job does.”
