Robert Portnoy, the Voice of the Albuquerque Isotopes (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League), will call the play-by-play action for the Triple-A Baseball National Championship Game on Versus, September 20 at 6:05 p.m.
Portnoy will be joined in the booth by former Major League and Triple-A player and manager Bucky Dent, while Pawtucket Red Sox broadcaster Steve Hyder will be the broadcast’s field reporter.
Since 2006, Portnoy has been the broadcaster of the Isotopes, establishing himself as one the Pacific Coast League’s best play-by-play voices. In 2008, Portnoy received an “Excellence In Broadcasting Award, Sports Play-By-Play” from the New Mexico Broadcasters Association and in 2007 served as the lead radio play-by-play voice of the Triple-A All-Star Game, which was broadcast nationally on the Westwood One Radio Network.
No stranger to the International League, Portnoy worked one season with the Indianapolis Indians before joining the ‘Topes. In 2003-04, he was the voice of the Double-A Huntsville Stars, where he was singled out as Southern League Radio Broadcaster of the Year in 2004.
