R-Phils embrace the craziness, honoring Crazy Hot Dog Vendor

Reading Phillies Crazy Hot Dog Vendor

The Reading Phillies (Class AA; Eastern League) are honoring one of the most unique mascots in all of baseball, the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor, as players will wear rather gaudy Crazy Hot Dog Vendor jerseys on July 10 and one lucky fan will win a 550-pound life-size Crazy Hot Dog Vendor statue.

The first 2,500 kids will receive a “Future Crazy Hot Dog Vendor” t-shirt, courtesy of Redner’s Warehouse Markets. In addition, all Redner’s R-Phils Kids Club members can perform on-field with the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor beginning at 4:00 p.m. Kids will want to come out dressed and ready to perform like their favorite Baseballtown mascot.

“If you have your own Crazy Hot Dog Vendor attire, we encourage you to wear it,” said R-Phils GM Scott Hunsicker. “Fans that dress like the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor get to throw real hot dogs with the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor just before the game.  If you don’t have your own costume, that’s okay too.  Kids can wear their give-away t-shirt, and we’ll provide a vendor hat, and a candy hot dog to all Kids Club members. The kids throw the candy hot dog to their family on the field!”
