TinCaps: A million $ for the millionth fan at Parkview Field?

Fort Wayne TinCapsThe Fort Wayne TinCaps (Low Class A; Midwest League) are celebrating the millionth fans to cross the turnstiles at Parkview Field in style, partnering with Comcast to give one lucky fan a chance to win a million dollars.

“The fan support for the TinCaps at Parkview Field has been tremendous,” said TinCaps Vice President of Marketing Michael Limmer. “We were looking for a way to mark the milestone of the TinCaps millionth fan. Comcast has been such a great supporter of the team, both at the ballpark and
during our live game broadcasts exclusively on Comcast’s XFINITY TV.”

When the regular season and playoff attendance totals for the 2009 (404,318) and 2010 (407,404) seasons were tabulated the TinCaps total stood at 811,722, just 188,278 short of the 1,000,000 mark. “We knew, based on previous years, that we would be at or around that number at the end of June, beginning of July,” said Limmer.

On the game that the TinCaps break the million-fan milestone the crowd will be alerted that the millionth fan is sitting somewhere inside Parkview Field. One lucky fan will be chosen at random by the help of American Media and Special Promotions, the specialty firm the TinCaps have entrusted with implementing the millionth fan promotion.

If the 1,000,000th fan is selected during one of the TinCaps’ firework games, the fan will have the chance that same night to play for the $1,000,000 prize prior to the evening’s finale. If the millionth fan is selected during a non-fireworks game, they will be invited back to the next scheduled fireworks game to play for the $1,000,000 payout.

Specific details of the $1,000,000 opportunity are yet to be announced by team officials. “Part of the fun of this promotion is the element of surprise,” stated Limmer. “We will say that the TinCaps 1,000,000th fan can be anywhere from 2 years old to 102 and still have a chance at taking home the $1,000,000 jackpot.”

The TinCaps begin the second half of the season with a three-game homestand through Sunday, June 24-26 with another homestand July 3-8.

Team officials estimate the milestone will be broken at some point during these next two series. Anyone present at the milestone game, with a valid TinCaps ticket, will be eligible to be selected as the 1,000,000th fan.

“It gives a whole new meaning to ‘must be present to win,’” said Limmer. “It’s fun to think that our millionth fan could walk out of Parkview Field that night a millionaire. We hope it happens and can’t wait to see who ends up with the opportunity. Good luck!”
