Never too early to start: the new Schaumburg team in the independent American Association, set to begin play in 2012, is launching a name-the-team contest.
The team owners have thrown out some potential names, but they’re opening the proceedings up to the public. Over 60 prizes are at stake, including tickets, use of a luxury suite and a customized team jersey for the winner.
As you’ll recall, this new team replaces the Schaumburg Flyers (independent; Northern League) as the tenant at Alexian Field.
The deadline for submissions: noon on Friday, July 29, 2011. Entries must be submitted via email to nameschaumburgsteam@gmail.com or by mail to: Name the Team, P.O. Box 68694, Schaumburg, IL 60168. If there are multiple submissions of the winning name, winners will be drawn at noon on Friday, July 29, 2011 and all winners will be notified by email or telephone.
