Bert George Field, the new home of the Seacoast Mavericks (summer collegiate; Futures Collegiate Baseball League), is near the end of $50,000 in renovations for the 2011 season, as the team is installing new dugouts, a drainage system and new field for their inaugural season.
The team is funding ballpark improvements In lieu of cash payments for a five-year lease.
The new dugouts are in place, while new sod is being laid. Besides the new dugouts, the field will also see upgrades to drainage, new infield sod and a clay based dirt, a rebuilt pitchers mound, two new bullpen mounds on both the home and visitors sides of the field, and a new sound system. The project will be completed by April 28 for the new high-school season.
