Calderwood new Voice of the RailCats

Gary SouthShore RailCatsTim Calderwood makes another stop on his tour of independent-baseball leagues, joining the Gary SouthShore RailCats (independent; American Association) as the team’s broadcaster for the 2011 season.

Calderwood began his broadcast career as a broadcast intern and fill-in broadcaster for the Schaumburg Flyers (independent; Northern League). He comes to the RailCats after stints as the broadcaster for the Traverse City Beach Bums (independent; Frontier League) and the Lake Erie Crushers (independent; Frontier League) last season. In Gary, that makes three indy leagues on his resume — not a record, but certainly an accomplishment worth noting. (Closed circuit to the broadcasters reading this: anyone worked in five indy leagues? We know of one broadcaster who has worked in four.)

In addition to his new role with the RailCats, Calderwood also serves as a broadcaster for the Horizon League, Elmhurst College and D3sports.com.

Calderwood graduated from North Central College in Naperville, Ill. in 2003 with a degree in Broadcast Communications and earned his Masters in Athletic Administration from Loras in 2006. Calderwood currently resides in Wheaton, Ill. with his wife Dana.
