Redbirds sprucing up AutoZone Park for 2011

Memphis RedbirdsThe Memphis Redbirds (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) have installed several upgrades to AutoZone Park for the 2011 season, adding a picnic terrace to right field and upgrading concessions with credit-card-enabled points of sale.

The most dramatic change at AutoZone Park: the last three section of the right-field seating area were removed, replaced by a three-tiered picnic terrace, complete with a drink rail and brand-new picnic tables open to all.

The Boardwalk area was also spiffed up with new windscreens, wall pads, basketball hoops and a new coat of paint. It will also be more accessible, with stairs added to give access from the main concourse to the Boardwalk and left field picnic area.

Ovations, the food and beverage provider of the Redbirds, introduced a new point of sale system where fans now have the ability to use credit cards at all concession stands. The system will reduce the wait time for fans and make transactions quicker.

Also upgraded: the videoboard.
