TinCaps once again exceed attendance projections; city receives windfall

Fort Wayne TincapsMore good news arising from Parkview Field, the home of the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Low Class A; Midwest League): yesterday $141,314 went into a capital-improvement fund set up to address ballpark maintenance — and that amount is some 66 percent higher than expected.

Hardball Capital, owners of the TinCaps, paid $141,314 to the city as a result of ticket fees and other fees generated by the 416,314 folks who entered paid events — ballgames, concerts and more — at Parkview Field last season.

That dollar amount is 66 percent above projections. The money goes into a capital fund, designed to address ballpark repairs and improvements without any money coming from Fort Wayne’s general funds.
