Once again we have interest from an affiliated team in the Baton Rouge area, as officials in Livingston Parish say they’re in talks with a Double-A team about an entertainment complex and ballpark in the suburban city.
In the past reps from the Huntsville Stars (Class AA; Southern League) has been identified as talking with Baton Rouge officials. Going further back both Ryan-Sanders Baseball and Ripken Baseball had been associated with a Baton Rouge bid, with Nolan Ryan visiting personally to lobby for public help. It’s considered to be a promising market by many; the lack of a decent facility has scared off potential team owners.
“It is an established team that would move from elsewhere,” Parish President Mike Grimmer told the Advocate. “There’s still a lot of work to be done.”
More information should come out at a Feb. 10 Parish Council meeting.
