Scrappers land new radio deal

Mahoning Valley ScrappersThe Mahoning Valley Scrappers (short season A; NY-Penn League) landed a new radio contract for the 2011 and 2012 seasons, partnering with Whiplash Radio.

The agreement includes live broadcasts of all 76 home and away Scrappers games along with a live Internet stream on In addition, 1570 WHTX will host a weekly Scrappers talk show Thursdays at 5pm during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

“The Scrappers are looking forward to our new partnership with 1570 WHTX and Whiplash Radio,” said Mahoning Valley Scrappers General Manager Jordan Taylor. “We enjoy tremendous relationships with the local media and are excited about the opportunities this new partnership will present.”

To me there is nothing better than listening to baseball on a summer evening. As the only independent broadcast company in the Mahoning Valley, this is just tremendous to have the secured the Scrappers on air and streaming online for the next two years. We’re also looking forward to the many promotional and marketing opportunities with the ballclub and the stations.”
