Jones new GM in Kinston

Kinston IndiansBenjamin Jones, the successful general manager of the Wilson Tobs (summer collegiate; Coastal Plain League), is the new general manager of the Kinston Indians (High Class A; Carolina League).

He replaces Shari Massengill, who reunited with North Johnson when she accepted the assisant GM position with the Gwinnett Braves (Class AAA; International League).

“We are excited about having Benjamin on board,” said Kinston Indians owner Cam McRae. “He brings a lot of managerial experience to Kinston along with his passion for the game of baseball.”

Jones began his career in baseball as an intern for the Johnson City Cardinals (rookie; Appalachian League) in 2004. He returned to work for the Cardinals the following season as the Director of Stadium Operations. In December of 2005 Jones  stepped into a full time position with Johnson City as the Assistant General Manager.

“I’m excited about this great opportunity to work with the K-Tribe staff and meet the wonderful fans,” said Jones. “Not every organization is lucky enough to have a loyal and devoted fan base and I feel privileged to be a part of this team.”
