Future of Christensen Stadium assured: ballpark to be leased to Midland College

Troy Glaus Midland AngelsThe former home of the Midland Angels and the Midland Rockhounds (Class AA; Texas League) will be around for at least 30 more years, as Midland (Texas) officials and Midland College are poised to sign a new lease that gives the college control of Christensen Stadium for $1 a year.

The ballpark was home to pro baseball since 1952, when the Longhorn League’s Midland Indians played there. More recently it was home to the Rockhounds through 2001; since then it has been home to the Midland College program.

The deal calls for the college to assume all maintenance costs on the facility; it also gives the college full control on the ballpark.
