The San Francisco Giants and the Augusta GreenJackets (Low Class A; Sally League) will remain partners for two more years, as the pair signed an extension to their player-development contract (PDC).
The extension will run through the 2012 season.
“The Giants are a quality organization and we have very much enjoyed working with them,” said Cal Ripken, CEO of Ripken Baseball. “We hope that our relationship with them continues for years to come and that we are able to continue to bring a wonderful experience to the fans of Augusta.”
“We are pleased to continue our affiliation with the Augusta Greenjackets and the Ripken Baseball Group,” said Bobby Evans, Vice-President of Baseball Operations for the San Francisco Giants. “It is a pleasure to work with the front office and to benefit from their hard work. We especially appreciate the faithful support of the fans and the Augusta community. However, in order for us to make a longer term commitment, we are hopeful that a new ballpark will be built that is befitting of the great City of Augusta, Ripken Baseball and the San Francisco Giants. Developing our top prospects in a top notch facility remains a priority as we look towards the future.”
