Lucky fan improbably wins car in CPL contest

Thank heavens for insurance! A fan at a Fayetteville SwampDogs game won a free car when a player stole home.

Thank heavens for insurance! A fan at a Fayetteville SwampDogs (summer collegiate; Coastal Plain League) game won a free car when a player stole home.

With Nick Natoli (Towson) on third base in the seventh inning, the SwampDogs shortstop from Towson did the improbable, stealing home to win SwampDogs fan Robert Cox a brand-new Nissan Versa.

The car giveaway was a part of the SwampDogs promotion called “Steal of aLifetime.” In this promotion every fan in attendance can enter their name in a box, free of charge, prior to and during each SwampDogs home game. If a SwampDogs player steals home, then the SwampDogs draw a name from a box. The name drawn wins a $15,000 Nissan. On Wednesday night, Cox was the fortunate winner.
