Zephyrs broadcasts have new home

The New Orleans Zephyrs have a new flagship, True Oldies 106.1 FM, while Tim Grubbs returns as the voice of the team.New Orleans Zephyrs (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) baseball will have a new flagship radio station for 2010 as WMTI, True Oldies 106.1 FM, becomes the home for all Zephyrs games on the radio.

“Partnering with WMTI is a huge opportunity for the Zephyrs,” said Jeff Booker, Zephyrs Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Community Relations. “This puts our games on a much stronger signal, giving us access to our North Shore fans who couldn’t pick us up before. A strong portion of the WMTI audience are Zephyrs fans already so this is a natural fit.

“Citadel Broadcasting will also use their other local stations, like Mix 92.3, Old School 106.7 and Power 102.9 to help promote the radio broadcasts and the Zephyrs in general. For the first time ever, the Zephyrs will have an entire radio group get behind us as a partner, much like the Hornets and Saints have had for years.”

All 144 Zephyrs home and away games will be carried by True Oldies 106.1 FM. Tim Grubbs returns for his ninth season as the play-by-play voice of the Zephyrs, and will again be joined by Ron Swoboda on all home broadcasts.
