ValleyCats announce front-office changes

The Tri-City ValleyCats announced the addition of two new employees to its organization.The Tri-City ValleyCats (short season; NY-Penn League) announced the addition of two new employees to its organization. Michelle Skinner has been named the club’s Administrative Assistant and Darwin Smock as Account Executive.

"The ValleyCats front office is proud to announce the hiring of Michelle Skinner to the position of Administrative Assistant and Darwin Smock to the position of Account Executive,” said Vice President & General Manager Rick Murphy. "Both Michelle and Darwin are committed to helping our organization create fans for life while becoming an integral part of the Capital Region community.”

Skinner, a native of Indiana, earned her degree in Sports Management from Ball State University in 2007. Prior to joining the ValleyCats, Skinner completed an internship with the New York-Penn League Vermont Lake Monsters and spent two years in Tennessee working for the Nashville Superspeedway. Skinner will be specializing in fan relations and client services for the ValleyCats.

Smock, of California, earned a degree in History from Cal State University Northridge. Previously, Smock worked with New York-Penn League Jamestown Jammers during the 2009 season. He joins the ValleyCats corporate and group sales efforts for the 2010 season.

Matt Van Pelt, Media Relations Manager, has left the organization to pursue other career interests. Van Pelt started with the ValleyCats as an intern during the 2007 season and became full-time in 2008. Van Pelt had been responsible for the ValleyCats media relations and electronic media efforts.
