Of course, this is a lousy time for Hudson Valley Community College to be shopping naming rights to a ballpark. But a community college doesn’t need a landmark deal to declare naming rights a success; in fact, it could offer them in association with a large donation to the school.
Naming rights and branding are very important these days. True, Bruno has not been convicted of anything, but his trial isn’t scheduled for the fall. We’re not sure HVCC — or the ValleyCats, for that matter — want their ballpark to be associated with what will prove to be a fascinating study into the heart of New York politics.
