The new owners of the Nashville Sounds (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) are making a good impression on local officials. The Nashville City Paper is reporting the new owners of the Nashville Sounds are making a good impression on local officials. The new owners (who still need to be approved by MiLB and MLB, by the way) say they want to make things work at Greer Stadium before pursuing a new facility, but some city officials say they want to explore options now. Mayor Karl Dean has thrown a few potential ballpark sites out there: the most intriguing for baseball folks is Sulphur Dell, the site of the former home of baseball in Nashville. The ballpark site is now a parking lot, and there’s enough development in North Nashville to cause City Hall to look at the location. It would be a great poetic justice to see baseball back there. (Skip Nipper’s Sulphur Dell website is a good primer on the old ballpark.)
