Florida flooding hits FSL ballparks

Bright House Field, Clearwater

Here’s a dramatic shot showing the extent of flooding on the western side of Florida: Bright House Field, home of the Clearwater Threshers (High Class A; Florida State League) is underwater.

If there’s any good from this, the Threshers are on the road. Still, there have been a slew of game cancellations across the south, as Tropical Storm Debby does her best to dampen spirits and the soil. Only one Florida State League game was played today, and that took place on the Treasure Coast, as Clearwater defeated host Palm Beach, 3-1. The Jacksonville Suns (Class AA; Southern League) were also affected; their game against the Tennessee Smokies was suspended due to — you guessed it — rain.
