Open General Manager Position: Wilmington Blue Rocks

The Wilmington Blue Rocks, invited Advanced-A affiliate of the 2019 World Series Champion Washington Nationals, are looking for an experienced minor league executive to serve as our new General Manager.

After 25 years, first as Assistant General Manager and then as GM, our friend Andrew Layman has chosen to accept another job with a more family-friendly schedule. While we will miss Andrew, we are excited to begin a new chapter with our MLB parent only 110 miles away.

We are looking for a joyful leader who is smart, dynamic, intellectually curious and able both to inspire and work collaboratively with a diverse group of people. Our next GM should have a vision for the Blue Rocks and the ability to strategically execute that vision.

We seek consistent growth in all areas, particularly sales and sponsorships. Our GM must be highly sales-oriented and will serve as the face of our franchise. He/she will oversee sponsorships, ticket and group sales efforts, ballpark operations, food & beverage, budgeting, advertising, marketing/promotions, expense management, community relations, non-baseball events, our relationship with the Nationals and all other aspects of running a team.

Our GM must be a skilled communicator, as this job requires constant interaction with team employees, city and state officials, Nationals personnel and community leaders. That means you must write cogently, speak articulately, think critically, and present persuasively.

Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in affiliated baseball and a proven record of sales success. Candidates must be able to manage a staff, stretch a budget and possess a strong motivation to succeed.

Women, minorities and U.S. veterans with strong leadership qualities are encouraged to apply. Please send your resume and cover letter detailing your qualifications, experience and salary requirements to BlueRocksGM@gmail.com.
