Best of the Ballparks 2018, Low-A: Parkview Field

Parkview Field STMA

We have a winner to announce in the MiLB Best of the Ballparks 2018 fan vote, as Parkview Field, home of the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Midwest League), captured the top spot over Four Winds Field, home of the South Bend Cubs (Midwest League).

“Thank you so much to everyone that voted and helped spread the word for us,” said TinCaps President Mike Nutter. “We are blessed to have such great fans and an amazing ballpark. We love our TinCaps supporters and are truly appreciative of all who took the time to help get Parkview Field to the top in this vote. We are honored to have such incredible support from fans, sponsors, local government, media, the Padres, and more.”

In the final round, Parkview Field received 62 percent of the online vote. Over 155,000 fans have voted overall so far in the Ballpark Digest Best of the Ballparks 2018 competition, and 58,000 fans voted in the Low-A rounds. Parkview Field has won in two of the last three seasons, with Modern Woodmen Park (2015) and Four Winds Field (2017) prevailing in past years.

It does take quite the effort to capture this award: There are five rounds of voting, encompassing the 30 ballparks of the Midwest League and the South Atlantic League. The TinCaps had a first-round bye and then defeated FirstEnergy Park (Lakewood Blueclaws), First National Bank Field (Greensboro Grasshoppers) and Cooley Law School Stadium (Lansing Lugnuts) entering the final round.

“Parkview Field has been one of the most honored and recognized ballparks in all of Minor League Baseball since its opening,” said Ballpark Digest Publisher Kevin Reichard. “This recognition by the fans just shows how loved Parkview Field is both in Fort Wayne and in the larger baseball world.”
