The Albuquerque Isotopes (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) pay the rent for Isotopes Park in a lump sum annually, and the most recent payment of $1,550,880.41 was submitted to the city yesterday.
The Isotopes have now paid the City of Albuquerque a total of $26,592,355.75 (an average of $1,772,823.72) for use of Isotopes Park over the past 15 seasons. The payments, which cover basic rent sum plus surcharge amounts, have been consistent: In 2003 the payment was $2,002,000, while in 2017 it was $1,309,577.66.
It’s also a great PR move: the check amount was announced yesterday, and the ‘Topes open at home tonight.
