The name of Minot, ND’s team in the summer collegiate Expedition League has been announced, as the club will be known as the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs.
The logo, designed by Ross Johnson of Ross Johnson Design Company, has been released. Columbia blue, royal blue and gray are the official team colors.
“We wanted to incorporate the military in some way considering Minot is an Air Force town,” Sabre Dogs Assistant General Manager Savannah Young said. “As we researched potential names, this one stood out as no one has used it before. Being a fighter jet, we thought Sabre Dogs will fit the team well. Just wait until we release the mascot.”
The Sabre Dogs and Expedition League start their inaugural season May 25, 2018. The Sabre Dogs will play at Corbett Field, which is receiving a renovation to its playing surface. In a previous announcement, Expedition League President Steve Wagner stated “We’re honored to call this beautiful, historic ballpark home. The nearly 1,000 stadium-style, fixed seats enhance the fan experience and all of the room inside the outer wall of the ballpark will allow us to provide an amazing entertainment experience for the fans with kids’ zones, portable food & beverage carts, party decking/areas and other amenities.”
Savannah Young will serve as the Sabre Dogs Assistant General Manager, while Corey Thompson is assuming the role of head coach.
