Jim Bishop is moving into a key position for the Rome Braves (Low A; Sally League): Vice President and General Manager. Bishop had been serving as AGM of the Mississippi Braves (Class AA; Southern League) and will replace Mike Dunn, who was recently promoted to Vice President of Florida Operations.
“We are delighted to have Jim oversee our operations in Rome,” said Mike Plant, Braves president of development. “His experience and dedication within our organization makes him the perfect person to lead our operations in Rome.”
A Greenville, SC native, Bishop, 47, just completed his 22nd season as the Assistant General Manager and his 25th overall with the Double-A Braves. Bishop spent his first 13 years with the organization in Greenville, SC, before the club relocated to Pearl, MS, for the 2005 season.
“I am honored and want to thank the Atlanta Braves for this opportunity,” says Bishop. “I am very excited to be joining the Rome Braves team. State Mutual Stadium is a fantastic facility located in a wonderful community.”
Bishop’s tenure with the Braves began in 1992 as a trainee for the Double-A Braves. He quickly progressed to Food and Beverage Director and then Ticket Manager, before being named the Assistant General Manager in the fall of 1996. In addition to being the Double-A Braves Assistant General Manager, Bishop has been serving as the Marketing Director for the Southern League of Professional Baseball. A 1992 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Administration, Bishop worked for the USC Athletic Department prior to joining the Braves.
