The Frisco RoughRiders (Class AA; Texas League) are making an improvement to the Choctaw Lazy River, which is now heated. The team says that this addition to the Choctaw Lazy River, which won a Best Ballpark Improvement Award from Ballpark Digest in 2016, will bring an end to Chilly Lazy River Syndrome (CLRS).
Working with the experts at Gold Medal Pools, this revolutionary technology will guarantee the Choctaw Lazy River maintains warm waters year-round. There’s no need for RoughRiders fans to wait for June or July to float the Lazy River for fear of CLRS.
Beginning with the Opening Day Lazy River Pool Party on Thursday, April 6 and lasting throughout the regular season, fans enjoying RoughRiders baseball in their swimsuits will be relaxing in waters at tropically-warm temperatures. For just $39, fans can float the river on Opening Day and receive a special free Riders towel along with an all-you-can-eat menu featuring brats, hot dogs, peanuts, chips and Dr Pepper products.
Lazy River Pool Parties are $39 per person every Thursday and Sunday throughout the regular season. The free Riders towel giveaway applies for just the first homestand – Opening Day and the Pool Party on Sunday, April 9.
Dr Pepper Ballpark gates on Opening Day open at 6 p.m. (5:30 p.m. Founders Members) for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch between the RoughRiders and Springfield Cardinals.
In the continual effort to improve the fan experience at Dr Pepper Ballpark, the RoughRiders installed the Lochinvar Aquas XPN1002 for the Choctaw Lazy River. The Aquas is 97% efficient and offers 10:1 modulation, which means it only fires in proportion to the heat required to maintain the temperature, no more temperature swings. This technology is referred to as “match loading,” and has been used at other locations such as Pepperdine University, City College in Pasadena and William Wolletts Aquatic Center in Orange County, CA (site of the Pan Am swim competitions).
Rising above the right-field wall at Dr Pepper Ballpark, the Choctaw Lazy River provides one of the most unique viewing and entertainment experiences in all of professional sports. All guests can enjoy full 360-degree access to the over-3,000 square foot river, along with an all-you-can-eat food menu and amazing view of the entire ballpark.
Larger groups of at least 200 are eligible to reserve the entire 12,000 square foot area, including private use of Lazy River and Cabana Bar & Patio, five days a week (except Thursday and Sundays). Groups of at least 50 people can reserve access to the Choctaw Lazy River six days a week, based on availability. Smaller gatherings of at least 25 are invited to enjoy the area for their party on Monday thru Wednesday dates (excluding holidays).
