Every Sunday Richmond Flying Squirrels (Class AA; Eastern League) game will feature brunch, with players sporting unique, brunch-themed jerseys with food service focused on serving buffets, brunch items and popular brunch-related drinks.
“While we are still trying to make the playoffs and draw huge crowds to the Diamond for this weekend, we are already planning for 2016. As we finalize the details for our Baseball Brunch Sundays, we know our fans will be excited about it and other energetic, and tasty, changes planned for 2016,” said Flying Squirrels VP & COO Todd “Parney” Parnell. “We felt Richmond is known as a brunch town so why not crossover to baseball and brunch, nobody in our industry that we know of, has ever consistently done what we are doing on Sundays in 2016.”
He’s got to be right: we don’t recall any other team featuring a regular brunch celebration or outfit players in brunch-themed jerseys. Bloody Mary, anyone?
