We expect to see a lot of stories like this in the next two weeks: the Lakewood BlueClaws (Low Class A; Sally League) and the Philadelphia Phillies extended their player-development contract though 2014.
No one was seriously entertaining the thought that the two would not renew. The Philies and BlueClaws have been affiliated since 2001, and there are plenty of ties between the two organizations.
“The Phillies couldn’t be happier to extend their relationship with both the BlueClaws and the city of Lakewood,” said Benny Looper, Phillies Assistant General Manager, Player Personnel. “It’s been a wonderful 12 years and we look forward to many more.”
“The BlueClaws are excited to renew our player development contract with the Phillies,” said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. “It’s been a magnificent relationship over the last 12 years and we’ve been graced with some great players who have come through Lakewood.”
