Southern Miss‘s Corky Palmer is leading a fundraising campaign for improvements to Pete Taylor Park, which would cover new chair-back seating as well as a new weight room dedicated solely to the baseball program.
Palmer, as college-baseball fans know, is the former coach at Southern Miss.
About 35 percent of the cost of improvements to The Pete would be dedicated to the new weight room. Currently the baseball team shares weight-training facilities with the rest of the college program.
The school is selling seat licenses for the 1,358 new seats; for $1,000 donors get their name on a theater-style seats and first crack at that seat when season-ticket renewal time rolls along. Only 220 of the new seats will be sold with a license; the school has already received 90 commitments.
