Threshers, Fisher Cats earn awards for best TV spot, best uni

We continue our announcements of the 2008 Ballpark Digest awards with the winners of Best TV Spot and Best New Uniform. The best new TV spot comes from the Clearwater Threshers (High Class A; Florida State League) and Plan B. Branding, "Thirsty Thursday the Musical." On the uniform front, we chose the new uniforms from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Class AA; Eastern League). We continue our announcements of the 2008 Ballpark Digest awards with the winners of Best TV Spot and Best New Uniform. The best new TV spot comes from the Clearwater Threshers (High Class A; Florida State League) and Plan B. Branding, "Thirsty Thursday the Musical." It’s whimsical, catchy, and conveys two great reasons to take in a Threshers game on a Thursday: Cheap beers and a fun atmosphere. It was the hands-down winner during our staff evaluation of best new spots; finalists in this amazingly competitive category included spots from the Fresno Grizzlies, Mankato MoonDogs, Quad Cities River Bandits, Pensacola Pelicans and Tri-City Valleycats.

On the uniform front, we chose the new uniforms from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Class AA; Eastern League). Our staff judged them to be a nice blend of the classical with the modern: a clean design that puts a clear emphasis on the team’s identity branding. (A PDF with the uniform design is attached.) Again, this was an amazingly competitive category; our finalists were uniforms from the Altoona Curve (the new retro design), Quad Cities River Bandits and Traverse City Beach Bums.
