Another Opening Day, another sellout, as the Richmond Flying Squirrels (Class AA; Eastern League) announced another packed house at The Diamond to open the 2019 season.
“Together, all of us, we did it again,” Flying Squirrels VP & COO Todd “Parney” Parnell said. “We can’t show enough gratitude to our fans, staff, owners, media, players and everyone who was passionate about making this tenth straight sellout happen. We are so grateful to be here and to be working in a place we love so very much. Be loud and HAVE FUNN tonight.”
The Flying Squirrels have won four consecutive home openers entering Thursday night’s match-up with Hartford, dating back to 2015. Overall, Richmond is 7-2 in its first game of the season at The Diamond.
The homestand continues on Friday night with the debut of the team’s Copa de la Diversión initiative, when the Flying Squirrels transform to Las Ardillas Voladoras de Richmond. The night also features an appearance by one of the most well-known lucha libre wrestlers, La Parka.
