A major attendance milestone is on tap for this week, as the Winston-Salem Dash (High A; Carolina League) are set to welcome BB&T Ballpark‘s two millionth fan.
Barring a postponement, the two millionth fan will enter the facility this Wednesday, July 13, when the Dash welcome the Potomac Nationals. Currently, a total of 1,998,520 fans have watched the Dash at BB&T Ballpark since its opening in April of 2010.
BB&T Ballpark will also host Krispy Kreme’s 79th Birthday Fan Fest during Wednesday’s 7 p.m. contest against the P-Nats. As a thank you to the community, the company offered an initial batch of free tickets to fans at three local stores: Stratford Road and University Parkway in Winston-Salem, along with the Clemmons store.
Since the first batch of vouchers ran out quickly, Krispy Kreme has supplied 2,000 more vouchers to be split evenly at those same three locations. Fans can simply stop by one of these Krispy Kreme stores and pick up two vouchers per day while supplies last. No purchase is necessary. The first 1,500 fans to enter the gates at BB&T Ballpark receive a commemorative Bolt Bobblehead that honors Krispy Kreme’s birthday.
The Dash’s milestone night will kick off a jam-packed seven-game homestand that features a pair of Fireworks shows on Friday, July 15 (presented by Black Flag) and Saturday, July 16 (presented by Shugart Homes). For tickets or for more details, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
BB&T Ballpark opened on April 13, 2010. Three seasons later, the ballpark surpassed one million fans faster than any facility in Class A-Advanced history (May 16, 2013). BB&T Ballpark is on pace to be the second-quickest facility to two million fans. Each season of the BB&T Ballpark era, the Dash have finished either first or second in both overall and per-game attendance among all 30 Class A-Advanced teams.
BB&T Ballpark has hosted two Mills Cup Championship Series, the 2012 California-Carolina League All-Star Game and an exhibition between the Dash and the Chicago White Sox in 2011. This season, the facility was voted the top stadium at the Class A-Advanced level through a fan vote on Ballpark Digest. The stadium also earned the honor of “Ballpark of the Year” from BaseballParks.com in 2010 and has won several local awards. BB&T Ballpark’s schedule stretches beyond the Dash’s 70 home games each season. Last year alone, the facility welcomed more than 60,000 people for non-Dash events, including weddings, proms, concerts and much more.
