A major milestone is on tap for the Clearwater Threshers (High A; Florida State League), as the team is set to welcome its two millionth fan. The Threshers expect to hit that number on Friday, April 8, their home opener at Bright House Field.
Bright House Field first opened in 2004, and has established itself as not only one of the best Florida State League ballparks, but also as one of the finest venues for spring training. Following their parent Philadelphia Phillies‘ first spring at the ballpark, the Threshers—who were previously known as the Clearwater Phillies—began their inaugural season and have posted solid attendance numbers ever since.
When the two Millionth fan is welcomed through the west gate pregame, they will be met with confetti, streamers, and a live interview on the video board. After donning their new Threshers jersey, the two Millionth fan will take a victory lap around the warning track in a convertible then throw out the first pitch.
The prize pack for the winner includes two Threshers Season Tickets for life, use of a suite for a Threshers game, a team-autographed baseball, $500 to spend at the Diamond Outfitters team store, a $100 tab at Frenchy’s Tiki Bar in left field, four tickets to a Phillies Spring Training game, a foursome in the Threshers annual golf outing, four Clearwater Marine Aquarium tickets, a Baystar Restaurant gift card, and more.
On Friday, everyone in the ballpark is a winner with scratch-off tickets being distributed to all guests. Every scratch-off is a winner with prizes from the Threshers and partners like Abe’s, Pete and Shorty’s, Ocean Breeze, Crabby Bill’s, Brick House, and Marco’s Pizza.
The night will be rounded out with two post-game events, starting with a fireworks display. Once that concludes, Smooth D and the Hunks will perform a post-game concert, kicking off the Threshers’ Summer Concert Series by Leinenkugel and New Belgium. Gates will open at 5:30 for a 6:15 first pitch.
