Good news if you’re a Mitt Romney supporter: in a tally of bobblehead choices in 10 minor-league ballparks, Romney carried the day with six wins and won the total selections by 7.1 percentage points.
The Goldklang Group produces the most extensive election bobblehead promotion in minor-league baseball, working with 10 teams over seven dates on Bobblection 2012. The promo is simple: a total of 1,000 Barack Obama and Mitt Romney bobbleheads (500 each) will be given away at each ballpark. Whichever candidate’s bobblehead is given away the fastest will determine the winner of the race. The last two Bobblections have predicted the eventual winner of the presidential election.
Overall, Romney claimed six victories (Hickory, Charleston, Hudson Valley, Lakewood, Asheville, Lincoln) to Obama’s four (Fort Myers, Pittsfield, St. Paul and Fargo-Moorhead).
The Fort Myers Miracle (High Class A; Florida State League); Charleston RiverDogs, Asheville Tourists, Hickory Crawdads and Lakewood BlueClaws (Low Class A; Sally League); Hudson Valley Renegades (short season A; NY-Penn League); Pittsfield Suns (Futures Collegiate League); St. Paul Saints, Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks and Lincoln Saltdogs (independent; American Association) participate in the promotion.
