Jim Pfander is the new general manager of the Charlotte Stone Crabs (High Class A; Florida State League), exiting his previous job as executive vice president/COO of the Akron Aeros (Class AA; Eastern League).
The Ohio-native began his career as a broadcasting and special events intern for the Cleveland Indians, followed by his first minor league baseball stint as director of sponsorship and promotions for the Spokane Indians (short season A; Northwest League). Pfander also held positions as director of promotions and merchandise for the Brockton Rox (independent; Can-Am League) and assistant GM of the Charleston RiverDogs (Low Class A; Sally League).
“I am excited to get started in Port Charlotte,” he said via press release. “The Stone Crabs and the Rays have a great reputation in the community and I look forward to continuing to provide an atmosphere filled with fun and affordable family entertainment in Southwest Florida. I also look forward to joining Ripken Baseball, as they have a solid brand throughout the world of baseball, both on the amateur and professional sides. I am thrilled to be aligned with such a first class organization.”
Pfander replaces former Stone Crabs GM Joe Hart. He is a graduate of Ohio University with a degree in Journalism and will reside in Punta Gorda, FL with his wife, Page, and 4 year-old daughter, Olivia.
