The home of the Clinton LumberKings (Low Class A; Midwest League) will have a new name pending City Council approval, as Ashford University has purchased naming rights to the former Riverview Stadium and Alliant Energy Field through the end of the 2014 season.
“We are very fortunate to have Ashford University as our naming-rights partner,” said LumberKings’ General Manager Ted Tornow. “They have provided the entire community with so many positive things and this is the start of what we anticipate being a very long and solid future for both our respective organizations.”
“This agreement is a win for the LumberKings, the city of Clinton and Ashford University,” said Ashford Vice President and Campus Director John Ballheim. “We’re excited about putting our name on such an historic, attractive ballpark that will also serve as the home field for our Saints baseball team.”
The name change for the ballpark will go into effect as of October 1 pending Clinton City Council approval. Fans will soon see new signage at the ballpark with a brand-new “Ashford University Field” logo.
