Good news if you’re a Hagerstown Suns or Sally League fan: phenom Bryce Harper is set to begin the season in Municipal Stadium — but don’t expect him to stay for long.
It should be a pretty exciting season for the Suns: new manager Brian Daubach has a track record as manager, guiding the Pittsfield Colonials (independent; Can-Am League) to the playoffs last season with a 48-45 record. Former Phillie Marlon Anderson is the team’s hitting coach as well.
Harper, of course, was the #1 draft choice of the Washington Nationals in last year’s amateur draft. If he performs as advertised, his time in Hagerstown could be short: the Nats have a track record of moving phenoms up the ladder pretty quickly.
