The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs (summer collegiate; Expedition League) have announced the appointment of Darrell Handelsman as their general manager. His vast experience includes time as a general manager and head coach in summer collegiate baseball.
From 2004-2013, Darrell was the General Manager and Head Coach of the Fayetteville SwampDogs (summer collegiate; Coastal Plain League). During his tenure with the SwampDogs, the team experienced significant growth in attendance and achieved strong results. He was responsible for impressive growth in corporate sponsorship revenue and ticket sales during his ten seasons with the SwampDogs. During part of his time with Fayetteville, Darrell also oversaw the operations of the Wilmington Sharks in the same league. The SwampDogs won the Coastal Plain League’s Organization of the Year Award in both 2007 and 2011.
In addition, Darrell has extensive experience as a head coach in summer collegiate baseball with the Waterloo Bucks, Madison Mallards and the Green Bay Bullfrogs of the Northwoods League. While with the Bucks and Mallards, he also worked as a sales representative.
