Mike Feder joins Diamondbacks

Arizona DiamondbacksNice hire: The Arizona Diamondbacks have hired as their Coordinator of Southern Arizona Special Projects Mike Feder, former GM of the Tucson Padres (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) and more.

“We have been looking to expand our presence throughout Southern Arizona and the opportunity to add Mike to the organization was a great way for us to do that,” said D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall. “His history in Tucson and knowledge of the area will be a tremendous asset to us.”

In his new role based in Tucson, Feder will work closely with the D-backs’ Executive Leadership team, Special Projects, Ticket Sales and Marketing, Community Affairs and Baseball Outreach & Development departments to identify and execute programs that will create and enhance the connection from fans, both new and existing, in Southern Arizona.

Feder served as general manager of the Tucson Padres from 2011-13 and was previously the vice president & GM of the Tucson Sidewinders and Tucson Toros (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) from 1989-2000. Feder received the Presidential Citation from Minor League Baseball and was the Pacific Coast League’s Executive of the Year in 2013, the sixth time he has received such honors in his league.

“I’m pleased that the D-backs want to step up their efforts in the Tucson area,” said Feder, who was inducted into the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame in 1998. “We know there are a lot of D-backs fans in Tucson so it will be my job to reach out and assist them with any of their needs as well as promote all D-backs initiatives.”

Prior to joining the Tucson Padres, Feder served as executive director of the Pima County Sports & Tourism Authority (PCSTA), and Executive Director of the Tucson Police Foundation, which honored him with its Chairman’s Award in 2012. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Tucson Police Foundation, Metropolitan Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau (MTCVB), and Father’s Day Council.

In addition to his numerous years in minor league baseball, Feder spent five seasons with the New Orleans Saints of the NFL while serving as the executive director of the New Orleans VooDoo of the Arena Football League.
