New and old for 2013: Tradition Field

Tradition Field redux

It’s back to the future for the New York Mets and the St. Lucie Mets (High Class A; Florida State League), as their Port St. Lucie facility will revert back to a familiar name: Tradition Field.

Tradition Florida held naming rights to the ballpark from 2004-2009. After a naming-rights deal with Digital Domain fell through after the firm entered bankruptcy, the Mets were left to find a new partner. The end result: an old partner and a new deal.

“We are pleased to resume our partnership with Tradition Florida,” said Mets COO Jeff Wilpon. “The iconic name is familiar to Treasure Coast residents and Mets fans.”

We’re now in the midst of a four-day period when pitchers and catchers report to spring training. For all the deets, check out our sister site, springtrainingonline.com.
