Parkview Field Upgrades Move Forward

Parkview Field

Funding has been approved for Parkview Field upgrades, allowing the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Low A; Midwest League) to proceed with about $445,000 in improvements ahead of the 2019 season.

Prior to this upcoming season, Parkview Field will receive several improvements. A new sound system will highlight that slate, which also includes concrete repairs and painting.

The roughly $445,000 in funding for the upgrades was finalized on Monday, when it was approved by the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission. More from The Journal Gazette:

The laundry list of improvements to be made this year to the ballpark includes concrete repairs, painting and a new sound system, said Mike Nutter, president of the TinCaps.

“The original matrix that we did suggested that we would get somewhere between eight and 10 years out of it and that the replacement system would be in excess of $400,000,” Nutter said of the sound system. “We did get the 10 full years out of it, and we found much better pricing than that.”

The cost of the new sound system is about $200,000.

“It’s a company that has been used in some of the biggest venues in this state,” Nutter said. “Some folks went on the road last week to confirm that the people that have the venues where it’s already been installed love it. It was unanimous coming back.”

Parkview Field is coming off of its 10th season, as the ballpark opened in 2009 and has been credited as being a major part of a broader redevelopment initiative in downtown Fort Wayne. For both their consistency as a franchise and Parkview Field’s success over its history, the TinCaps were given our 2018 Continued Excellence Award.
